Pay Pal Users/Online Bankers Beware!

I'm going to skip the house update until tonight when I have my camera and pictures available. But I did want to post a bit of a warning story regarding a situation I had this weekend!

I received a phone call on Sunday afternoon from Pay Pal's fraud department stating that I should check my account as there was some unusual activity. Mom relayed the message later in the evening. I checked my account and there were two attempts to withdraw $4000 from my checking account! One of them had been canceled...the other was processing.

In calling Pay Pal they were very helpful in trying to resolve the situation. As they are not a "financial" institution they cannot cancel payments already in progress. Luckily this $4000 was going to my Pay Pal account, and not directly to someone as they had tried to do earlier. So I called the credit union this morning and the money had already left my account. So I have to wait for a day or two for it to show up in my Pay Pal account so I can transfer it back to my checking account!

Pay Pal has set me up with a device to create a special security code for me whenever I log in. It is on it's way in the mail.

So a scary situation that should be resolved in the next couple days. Thankfully Pay Pal fraud alerted me! I have no idea how they got my information to log in. I don't reply to phishing type emails.

So any of you who use Pay Pal or do your banking online. Please keep an eye on your accounts and change your passwords regularly!

Playing Hookie...

I will be skipping my update this week. :) I will be back next week, hopefully with some good stuff to report...like maybe a toilet or two?

We had a rough weekend. Grandpa Melville passed away on Friday evening. We are all doing ok. Grandpa is finally at peace and rejoined with Grandma. He's been waiting for that for a long time. We did celebrate Steven's graduation on Saturday. It was a fun event and some great time spent with the family. We've been pretty busy.

A teaser for you on the house progress...the plumber DID show up! I have running water in one of my sinks! I know...you're shocked...staring at the computer screen with your mouth open thinking...she's lying. :)

I hope this Monday finds everyone happy and well.

Lots to Report

Please note that I am writing this on Sunday night so I don't get any nasty-grams about not having posts midweek. :)

We accomplished quite a bit this weekend! I called Uncle Mike to see if he or Steven could bring over his lawn mower so I could mow my lawn. He graciously brought it over and then proceeded to mow my lawn for me. Heather helped me to pull the remaining big weeds before Uncle Mike got to them with the lawn mower. So here is a picture of my front lawn. That is mostly grass...but there are still a ton of weeds. I'm looking forward to being able to put weed killer on them in a few weeks.

While they were there Heather also got an education in running the finish nailer. Unfortunately I left my camera at home that day!
As I like to do with people who help me on the house, we fed Uncle Mike and Heather dinner. It was just pizza out at the house...but it was delicious. While we were sitting in my driveway eating dinner we had some entertainment out on the corner. A car stopped at the stop sign and the next thing we knew there was a girl standing outside the vehicle screaming at her boyfriend (?) in the car about how she loved him and how she'd never do that to him...and how he loved her. After he tried to run her over with the vehicle he decided to stop the hysterics by getting out of the car and smacking her and calling her some pretty nasty names! However, he forgot the key part of putting the car in park, not reverse, before getting out of the car! He quickly got back in to stop the car. Unfortunately the girl got back into the car with the asshole and they drove off. The rest of the weekend was pretty boring in comparison. :)

We've started working on trim. Dad has put down some baseboard and I've started working on the door casing. I've put a couple pictures up of the trim.

Today, Dad spent the day working on shower tile. He completely finished the main bath. As soon as he caulks it I can grout it. He also did quite a bit on the master shower. It is turning out pretty nice! I am excited to see it done...I'm guess Dad is too as he can barely stand up straight after bending over and being on his knees all day!

So that's the skinny on the house this week. I hope everyone has a great week!

If you think of it tomorrow send Mom some happy birthday wishes! She's turning a mere 29 years! :)

Another Delayed Post

Alright...I've been busy this week and haven't taken the time to put up any updates. Things are looking fantastic! Rick and Dad spent all day Saturday installing my counter tops. They are beautiful! I even have back splash on some of my counters already. This is making Mom really mad...cuz she doesn't have any! :)

Dad started putting baseboard down in two of the bathrooms this weekend. That really dresses up the room. I'm pretty excited that the trim is going in.

My plumber came out on Sunday to turn the water back on. He visited with Rick, Dad and I for quite some time, but didn't get any work done. He assured us we would have running water by Monday. Guess what! No running water, no more pipe, no plumber...even giving him another day leeway. I know...you're all shocked.

I do have pictures, but haven't had a chance to download them yet. I'll see if I can get some up later tonight.

Have a great rest of the week!

Another Big Step

We are getting there...slowly but surely.

This weekend Dad worked on my master shower while I pulled some weeds out of my yard that were the size of small trees. I weeded ALL DAY Sunday! My hands were pretty sore when I got home that night. But I'm trying to get the weeds that would do damage to a lawn mower out of the way so I can mow the rest of my weeds and a little bit of grass.
Dad finished the floor in the shower, did some layout and a couple rows of tile. He's also been working on the seat for the shower, and figuring out where to put it.

Rick and Dad took my counter tops out to the house last night. They still need finishing work, but so far I LOVE them! I am super excited about it!

We were hoping to have start setting my upper cabinets this weekend...but the cabinet shop never made my appliance garages, which are the first cabinets we have to set in order to do that. Grr...I knew things were going too smoothly lately. :)

Anyway...that's the newest. If I could just get my plumber to work consistently we'd be golden... :)

I'm really looking forward to this weekend! Khristine is coming up to visit for a few days! I'm going to take the day off on Friday and we're going to hope the weather cooperates enough to go kayaking. Then we're heading off to the art fair in Midland. I'll be working on my house too...while Khristine relaxes either at Mom and Dad's house or visiting some other friends in the area. It should be a GREAT weekend!!!!!

I hope everyone has a great week!
