Beautimus

I know it's been awhile since I posted an update, but there haven't been any really exciting pictures to post. Today is a different story! I was so excited I thought about putting them up last night (Sunday) when I got home from the house...but it was WAY past my bedtime so I just went to bed.

I put more trim up around the house. I have all the trim up that I can do without baseboard. Dad says he's going to teach me how to do baseboard next. Then I can finish up the closets. We'll start there anyway. :) Here are a couple pictures of trim that I've finished recently. The stuff around the fireplace looks great! It's very interesting how the same tile in a different area, with different surroundings picks up different colors. More of the gray gets picked up in the kitchen, but here in the living room with the tan walls and wood trim the browns come out more.

The hardwood floor installer came out last week to put the last two coats of varnish on the floors. They are covered with paper now to try to keep them clean. They are very pretty. :)

I spent most of Sunday a week ago grouting my master shower. I have the floor to finish yet. I am waiting for the top piece of corian to go on the step into the shower before I finish that.

Last week Mom, Dad and I headed down to Flint to do some carpet shopping. The salesman at Skaff was very knowledgeable and gave me so much to think about and so many more questions to ask. This is probably the hardest thing I've had to decide yet. And I need to do it yesterday!

The most exciting news is that my kitchen cabinets are all hung! They are absolutely gorgeous! We still have to do the crown molding, but that can wait. It's a minor detail. :) I am so excited about how they look, and how much the house is coming together.

I'm looking forward to Grandpa Crower coming home at the end of August to see how much work we've done! And of course to visit with him. This summer has been kind of dull without him around! But we'll have him for a month or so. Can't wait!

More good stuff...

I figured I'd put an update up, but I won't be able to put the one picture I took up until later.

This weekend was the last of my long streak of Fridays off. I have to work this Friday and then wait a whole week for my next Friday off! :) I know...it's rough being me. On Friday I attempted to obtain my last appliance garage so we could finish hanging the cabinets in the kitchen. You know...the one I've been saying we'll get on Friday for a few weeks now? Well...it's STILL not done. So I still have cabinets sitting all over my kitchen floor. I'm getting a little perturbed. I did get out to stain the bi-fold doors for the bedroom closet along with the door jams for the closets.

I also was fortunate enough to attend the Sugarland concert in Chesaning with Dave and Kerri! We had a wonderful time. We attempted to go last year, but the concert was rained out with horrible thunderstorms. Sugarland was gracious enough to come back to make up the show. It was fantastic. 12 rows back watching them was great! The quality time spent with Dave and Kerri was fantastic. Lately they've stopped by the house the the way to or from Gramma Debbie's and we don't get to visit much over there. The concert and beer tent festivities afterwards were enjoyed by all!

Saturday afternoon I took to grouting my main bathroom shower. It took quite awhile, and was not a fun job. But it looks great! I was very surprised by the change in the look of the tile once the grout was in. On the floors everything finally looked finished when the grout was done. In the shower it has changed the whole look of the shower. The border is a bit more muted than it was before. I LOVE it! I liked it before, but this looks great. I'm waiting to tackle my master shower until this weekend. Grouting always takes more time than I think it should. By the time you get it grouted and wiped down it's much longer than one would anticipate.

Anyway, when I get home after softball tonight I will try to remember to put the picture of the shower up.

I hope everyone had a great Monday!

Good Stuff

Ok...I have some new pictures to show you!

Dad let me start putting up trim...and I think I surprised him by how well I did it! I was shocked he let me do it, but it really wasn't too hard...just time consuming and very detail oriented. I've put a picture of the laundry room up. This has a window trimmed out as well as my washer and dryer! Two appliances up from the basement! Yea!

Dad also finished tiling my master shower this weekend. I absolutely LOVE it! I am so happy with the way it turned out!

And...drumroll...THE PLUMBER WAS HERE!!!! I know...I was amazed too...especially when I saw not one...but THREE toilets installed, and working. When they flush they don't empty into the basement...I'm assuming they go to my septic. :) So I'm pretty geeked about that. When I saw them I sent a picture to my wonderful friend Jenn to ask her if she knew what they were and how to work them. I wasn't quite sure if they belonged in this house or not. Jennifer suggested that I call my cousin Billy Bob because she's pretty sure he plants flowers in them. :) What a jokester. I also have running water in most of my sinks!
I borrowed Uncle Mike's lawn mower again this weekend. It didn't come with an operator this time...so I had to run it myself. The lawn is looking better and better all the time! I also have spigots outside to run sprinklers for watering the grass. We've come quite a way in the last two weeks!

In between all the work this weekend we did have some fun times. Friday night we spent at the Loons game. They went into 12 innings! The Loons ended up winning with a walk off homerun...which was fun to see. Then after returning home we found that the Tigers were still playing too. We tried to stay up see the end...but I fell asleep and around the 15th inning...

Saturday night, instead of joining the masses to watch fireworks, we spent some quality time playing Mario Kart on Mom's Wii. That was a ton of fun...we had the whole family playing. Listening to Mom was quite funny...she would say, "Oooh....Oooh! Sorry! Agh! Oooh! Ouch! Sorry!" I asked her who she was apologizing to and she said, "The little man in the car I'm driving!" :) Too fun!

Anyway...I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend!
